Parking Lot Passport 02.15.2023

Welcome to this weeks edition of clothes I actually wore this week. Most of my days involve an office job, that I love, along with what feels like 1000 other things needing my attention, so we keep style choices simple, fun, functional and obtainable. We keep a healthy balance of more formal work wear days (think dresses and skirts) and casual days (jeans and sandals). For reference, I am just an average short girl size wise, 5’ 1” tall, usually a medium/size 8, athletic build. And with no further adieu, let’s get to it.

I have been loving the wide leg pull on pants. The are wildly comfortable and can be dressed up for the office with a button up (especially a stripe one with ruffles), or toss on a hoodie and a baseball cap to run errands on the weekend. The other thing on repeat for me are these platform leather Converse sneakers. They are quickly becoming a spring staple. Do yourself a favor and find a pair of go to white tennis shoes – they go with just about everything! Added a fun chunky black and white acrylic link bracelet and some sunglasses that I found on Amazon in a perfect price range so when I loose them or break them I am not too sad, because one of those two scenarios is bound to happen.

I shared about this little crossbody / belt bag over in stories this week as part of an Amazon share week. (you can see a few of my other favorites I shared over here) This bag is the perfect option for those of us out there that like the idea of the belt bags, but feel like they are choking you or just are uncomfortable across the front of you. This one lays on you like the belt bags but has a strap that adjusts longer so a real size human can wear it and still be functional! It comes in 5 colors and holds everything you need out on the go. Paired with these cropped chinos in a caramel color and black light weight sweater with a fun texture and I was out the door for a full day of checking all the things off my list.

Saturday

We went on a fun little local adventure today. Mr. Dobson got tickets for us to go see a production of Romeo and Juliet with a twist. The version that the Plague Mask Players put on featured a widower and widow who fall in love in spite of their children’s feud. It was a little more relatable than teenagers and full of laughter and the cast presented an energetic show. This little adventure took us over to The Bath House Cultural Center by White Rock Lake. Great little venue for an intamite production.

Since this was effectively our Valentine’s date (Mr. Dobson had a casting call on Valentines) I went with the pink version of those pull on wide leg pants. I am telling you, they really are the best! This white peplum top is a great transition to spring piece. It pairs great with work pants, jeans or a pencil skirt. Those same white tennies and my go to accessories as on late, and we were off to get cultured.

Monday

Just popping in for a quick hello and a pop of color. Some days are just busier than others. Hang on friends, they aren’t all this crazy.

Tuesday, Valentines Day

Mr. Dobson was able to get off set in time to keep our dinner reservation at one of our go to favorites, Shoal Creek Tavern. We jokingly (kind of) call it the ‘old person bar’. We know the staff and they know us, and that provides a level of comfort for my enneagram 5 husband that puts it on repeat for us. The food is also really yummy. I haven’t had a single thing off the menu I haven’t enjoyed.

Valentines day seemed like the perfect day to pull out this perfect pink dress from Gibsonlook. With smocked and ruffled cuffs on the sleeves, a notched collar and just enough flounce to be girly, but not too girly it was perfection and super easy to wear. You could easily dress it up with boots, heels or wedges. I however, went with my go to this week, my white Converse.

I am very much a detail kind of girl. It is the small things that really count after all. Mr. Dobson’s red plaid socks, that he purposefully picked because it was Valentines day and he knew I would approve. The details on this Victoria Emmerson Apple watch band (that has quickly become the one I reach for almost every day) are some of my favorite. It is a great way to add a little arm candy, and have it still be functional. (e.g. you can still type on your computer all day and you don’t have to take your bracelets off becuase that are jamming into you) I really like that it has a normal adjustable watch clasp system, giving it a perfect fit every time.

Wednesday

Bringing my own sunshine today with this super fun and bright button front ruffle shirt dress. This one will for sure be on repeat. The pattern, the colors and the fit are all great for those days that include a wide array of activities and commitments. Paired it with those white Converse, some fun stretch bracelets in orange and pink, and a great clear Apple watch band. I have found that the clear is a great option to not draw attention to a must have daily gadget.
